Other materials like hay, cedar chips or cloth will attract moisture and become wet. Wet bedding will cause hypothermia in your dog which can be fatal.

Don’t be afraid to over stuff it in the winter. It will break down over time and the dog can take some out if it is too much. If it is not enough, a dog cannot add more to keep himself warm.
